Solatube is a great product, I have two. I love the light! Solar Midwest as the installing contractor however is a different story. Solar Midwest cut a hole in the roof in the wrong place, used foil tape on wood surfaces to reattach an exhaust duct they needed to move (which didn’t hold), they left their trash behind in my attic, and stepped on the ceiling drywall, cracking the ceiling. If you have Midwest Solar install any Solatubes, I highly recommend to go in to your attic space to check o

Solar Midwest installed a Solatube about 3 months ago for us. We had a Solatube in our other house and loved it, but we were a little concerned because the tube for this this house was on the north slope of the roof and required a tube extension. Despite that, it still provides great light. It is in the laundry room that we pass through to the garage. We no longer turn that light on a dozen times a day. It even helps brighten a corner of the kitchen. The night light portion is also nice. I

We were oversold on what the install person was able to do. Anything beyond a very standard install, I would be skeptical about. The install person was uncomfortable doing basic wiring that the salesperson had told us would be reasonable for them to do. We were left in a position where we would have to hire an electrician or DIY the work for a day. I burned a day DIYing it as we had not budgeted for the electrical work. The wringing that I did was very simple...I am no Bob Villa.
