We were worried about the loose brickwork on the bottom of the chimney. They fixed the base, repointed the joints, cleaned the inside of the flue, and put lubricant on it. After being fixed, the chimney looks and feels much better. They were careful not to hurt the walls around them.

I phoned because the fireplace wasn’t holding heat well at night. The original damper was twisted and not shutting all the way, the technician found. They replaced it with a new top-sealing unit, cleaned the throat region and changed the air flow, and removed some creosote buildup. The room keeps warm for a significantly longer time when the fire is out. Crew was efficient and did not make a mess. Really glad I got this done eventually.

Preliminary indications of liner wear were seen throughout the examination. They put in a new stainless part, sealed it up good, cleaned the flue and checked it all out. The draft is good again and we are much safer.
