In the 2-3 years preceding 2024, we had been trying to find someone who could build a custom fireplace surround (or front) for us. Finally found Alice Woodworking. Beautiful job! There were plenty of quirks because this is a house from the 1950's, but he managed it wonderfully. We love it. The one photo is before staining. This is walnut wood. In the photos, ignore the brick. That was done by the fireplace company & we need to either do a German schmear or limewash.
